Puan Hamidah Abdullah, together with CTCS officers, participated in the “Seminar Wood Product Certification: Boosting Quality Value, Sustaining Competitiveness” program, held at the Bangi Resort Hotel organized by the Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB) and UPM.
The program featured two insightful talks:
Talk 1: Certified Excellent: Unlocking Market Opportunities with Product Certification, presented by Prof. Paridah Md Tahir, which explored how certification can open new doors for market expansion and elevate the value of wood products.
Talk 2: MTIB’s Product Certification Scheme, delivered by Puan Syarafana Dini Mohd Rosli, which provided an overview of MTIB’s certification framework and its benefits to the industry.
Additionally, the program included a General Discussion session, where industry experts and participants engaged in a thorough conversation about the issues and challenges in Timber Product Certification, identifying key obstacles and exploring solutions to enhance the certification process.
This comprehensive session provided valuable insights into improving the competitiveness of wood products through certification, while also addressing the practical challenges faced by the industry in meeting certification standards.
