The General Manager of CTCS, Puan Hamidah Abdullah, together with YBhg. Dato’ Muhammad Anuar Mat Bakar, Member of the CTCS Board of Directors, and all CTCS officers conducted an educational visit to the Wood Processing and Properties Programme Department at the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM). The visit was hosted by Dr. Roszaini binti Kadir, Senior Research Officer of the department.
The visit aimed to provide exposure on the characteristics of wood, common wood defects, and an introduction to various wood-destroying insects such as borers and termites. In addition, CTCS officers had the opportunity to observe firsthand the different types, anatomy, and appearance of termites, as well as the process and extent of wood damage caused by termite infestations.
This visit is expected to enrich the knowledge of all CTCS staff members, particularly in understanding the challenges related to timber preservation and quality.
